Copper World - Calumet
On my whirlwind tour of the UP, I stopped by Copper World in Calumet to sign books and chat with people who live in the community where the event happened. Again, I met a lot of people touched by the tragedy and countless others interested in the local history. If you pass by Calumet, be sure to stop by Copper World and look around. Not only are the owners nice (the Bausano family) but the store has more copper-related merchandise than anywhere on earth. Be sure to look under the counters, where they keep the antique stuff from the copper industry heyday.
